When a Membership Expires

Nothing is deleted on the day a membership expires. There is a window in which everything can be brought back by renewing, and only after that are classes cleared.

On the expiry date

  • Students in that membership's classes lose access to their courses.
  • The classes stop appearing as active for teachers.
  • Accounts are not deleted. No teacher or pupil loses their login.
  • All of the class data still exists: registers, tasks, quiz results and progress.

Renewing at this point restores access with everything intact.

For the next three months

The membership is expired but its classes are kept, and it stays in the membership dropdown so you can find it and renew it.

This is your grace period. If a renewal is going through a school finance office over a holiday, this is the room you have.

After three months

Classes belonging to a membership that has been expired for more than three months are cleared, and the membership no longer appears in the dropdown.

Renewing after that gives you a working membership again, but the old classes and their progress data will not come back. You would be setting up registers from scratch.

Before you expire, if you are not renewing

If you want a record of what pupils achieved:

  1. Open each class and go to the Tracker.
  2. Use Export to download the marks.

Do this within the three months. It is the only copy you will have afterwards.

Renewing an expired membership

A renewal for an expired membership runs from the day you renew, rather than being added to the old expiry date. You keep the classes, but you do not get the lapsed time back.

See Renewals.

Screens in these guides use a demonstration account, so your own school name, courses and dates will be different.
