Assigning Courses
A class needs at least one course before students have anything to work through, and before the Tracker and Insights tabs have anything to report.
Open your class and choose the Courses tab.
How it works
You see two lists side by side.
- Available Courses on the left: everything included in your membership that this class is not yet studying.
- Assigned Courses on the right: what this class is studying now.
To assign a course, click it in the left list, then click the right arrow button in the middle. To unassign, select it on the right and click the left arrow.
You can select several courses at once before moving them.
What students see
As soon as a course is assigned, it appears for every student in the class. They find it under Courses in their own sidebar, and can start work immediately.
Unassigning a course hides it again. Their progress is not deleted, so if you reassign the same course later their previous work is still there.
Choosing what to assign
Assign only what the class is actually studying. It is tempting to give a class everything, but that makes their Courses page harder to navigate and it makes your Tracker much wider, since the Tracker shows a column for every lesson in the selected course.
If you teach a course over two years, assign it once. Progress carries across the whole time the class exists.
If a course is missing
If a course you expect is not in the Available list, the usual reason is that it is not part of your membership.
- Courses come from the membership, not the class. Check you are looking at the right membership using the dropdown in the blue bar.
- If your school has more than one subscription, the course may sit under the other one.
- If you believe it should be included, get in touch and we will check your subscription.
